Garden Orb Weaver variations

Eriophora transmarina and E. biapicata both come in a wide range of variations in the patterns and colours on their abdomen. Here are a few E. transmarina that I have collected. All of these are from that one quarter-acre block at Budgewoi

The female above probably has the mass of a small mouse while the one to the right is about a third of her size. The two at the top of the page are in their daytime refuges. The two with their heads in the grass are hiding after their web was disturbed by something too large for them to try and eat. Both of those images are at night. The massive female above heads out from the daytime roost she has lived in all summer. The little yellow one in the grass is in a daytime refuge. One is in her web at night and all are females
